- The most fundamental thing in mathematics learning is communication. The mathematical communication skills is the skill of students to communicate their ideas and understanding about mathematical concepts that are seen through student’s skills in drawing, writing and expressing mathematics. This descriptive research aimed to know the mathematical communication skills of students who take the peer lesson and think talk write (TTW) learning. The subjects of this research were students of XI IIS 1 and XI IIS 2 of SMAN 2 Abung Semuli in academic year of 2014/2015. The research data were obtained through mathematical communication skills test and observation of student’s activity during the learning process. The conclusion of this research was student’s mathematical communication skill in TTW was higher than peer lesson.Hal paling mendasar dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah komunikasi. Kemampuan komunikasi matematis adalah kemampuan siswa dalam mengomunikasikan gagasan dan pemahamannya tentang konsep matematika yang dilihat melalui kemampuan siswa dalam menggambar, menulis dan mengekspresikan matematika. Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran peer lesson dan think talk write (TTW). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IIS 1 dan XI IIS 2 SMA Negeri 2 Abung Semuli tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan observasi aktivitas siswa selama mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada TTW lebih tinggi daripada peer lesson.Kata kunci: kemampuan komunikasi matematis, peer lesson, think talk write
