- This quasi-experimental research aimed to know whether the implementation of problem-based learning model could increase students' mathematical representations skill. This research population was all students of grade 7th of SMP Tamansiswa Telukbetung in academic year of 2013/2014 as many as 190 students that was distributed into five classes and this research samples were students of VII A and VII C class that were selected by purposive random sampling technique. The design of research was the pretest-posttest control group design. Based on hypothesis testing, the increasing of mathematical representations skill by the implementation of problem-based learning model was equal to the conventional learning. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of problem-based learning model couldnâ€TMt increase students' mathematical representations skill.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Tamansiswa Telukbetung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 sebanyak 190 siswa yang terdistribusi ke dalam lima kelas dan sampel penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII A dan VII C yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive random sampling. Desain penelitian yaitu pretest-posttest control group design. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dengan penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah sama dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah tidak dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: kemampuan representasi matematis, konvensional, pembelajaran berbasis masalah
