  • This research aimed to know the effect of the implementation of cooperative learning model of think pair share type towards studentâ€TMs mathematical communication skill. The design of this research was pretest posttest control group design. The population of this research was all regular students of grade 8th of SMPN 1 Baradatu in academic year of 2013/2014 that was distributed into seven classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII D and VIII E class who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical communication skill. The conclusion of this research was the implementation of cooperative learning model of think pair share type affect towards the studentâ€TMs mathematical communication skill.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII reguler SMPN 1 Baradatu tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdistribusi dalam tujuh kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII D dan VIII E yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunika­si matematis. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: komunikasi matematis, konvensional, think pair share
