- This quasi experimental research purposed to know the effectiveness of cooperative learning model of Group Investigation type viewed by mathematics learning result of students of grade XI IPS SMAN 8 Bandar Lampung even semester in academic year 2012/2013. This research design was posttest only control design. The population of this research were all students of grade XI IPS SMAN 8 Bandar Lampung even semester in academic year2012/2013 which distributed into five classes. Samples of this research were all students of XI IPS 3 as experiment class and students of XI IPS 4 as control class. Samples were chosen by purposive random sampling. The data of this research was students mathematics learning result. The research concluded that the application of cooperative learning model of Group Investigation type was effective to increase the result of students mathematics learning.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Group Investigation ditinjau dari hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung semester genap tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest only control design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung semester genap tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 yang terdistribusi dalam lima kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas XI IPS 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Sampel dipilih melalui teknik purposive random sampling. Data penelitian ini adalah data hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Group Investigation efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa.Kata kunci: efektivitas, group investigation, hasil belajar
