- This research aimed to know the effectiveness of learning strategy of Think Talk Write considered by studentâ€TMs mathematical communication ability. The population of this research was grade eighth students of Junior High School State 29 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2012/2013. The samples were chosen by purposive random sampling technique. The design of this research was pretest-posttest control group design. Based on analysis of data, it was founded that gain of studentâ€TMs mathematical communication ability with strategy of Think Talk Write was higher than gain of studentâ€TMs mathematical communication ability with conventional learning, but the studentâ€TMs mastery learning with strategy of Think Talk Write didnâ€TMt reach the target. Thus, it can be concluded that strategy of Think Talk Write was not effective considered by studentâ€TMs mathematical communication ability.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas strategi pembelajaran Think Talk Write ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 29 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Sampel diambil dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Desain dalam penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan strategi pembelajaran Think Talk Write lebih tinggi daripada peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional, tetapi ketuntasan belajar siswa dengan strategi pembelajaran Think Talk Write tidak memenuhi target. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran Think Talk Write tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: efektivitas, kemampuan komunikasi matematis, think talk write
