- This quasi-experimental research aimed to find out the influence of Inquiry Learning towards improvement of students’ critical thinking skills and self confidence. The population in this research was all students of eighth grade of SMP Islam Terpadu Bustanul Ulum Terbanggi Besar on academic year 2017/2018. The samples of this research were students of class VIII C and VIII D selected by using purposive random sampling technique. This research used pretest-posttest control group design. The research data were obtained by the essay test of critical thinking skills and questionnaire non-test of self confidence. Analysis data of this research used t’ -test and non-parametric test, Mann Whitney U test. The results of this research concluded that inquiry based learning influence the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills and self confidence.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self confidence siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Terpadu Bustanul Ulum Terbanggi Besar semester genap tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Sampel penelitian ini adalah Siswa kelas VIII C dan VIII D yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Data penelitian diperoleh dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis berbentuk essay dan non-tes self confidence berbentuk angket. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan uji-t’ dan uji non parametrik yaitu uji Mann Whitney U. Dari hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran inkuiri berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self confidence siswa.Kata kunci: inkuiri, kemampuan berpikir kritis, self confidence
