- This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of cooperative learning of think talk write type in terms of mathematical communication skill. The population of this research was all students of grade eight in Junior High School of 20 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2016/2017 that were distributed into fourteen classes. The sample of this research was students of VIII-K and VIII-M class that was chosen by purposive sampling technique. This research used pretest–posttest control group design. Research data were obtained through test of mathematical communication skills. Analysis data of the research used t-test. Based on the research, it was concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning of think talk write type was not effective in terms of mathematical communication skill.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Talk Write ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Bandarlampung semester genap tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 yang terdistribusi dalam empat belas kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-K dan VIII-M yang diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest–posttest control group design. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh simpulan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Talk Write tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis.Kata kunci: efektivitas, komunikasi matematis, think talk write.
