- This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of cooperative learning of STAD in terms of students mathematical concepts. The population of this research was all students of grade eight in Junior High School 4 Bandar Lampung that were distributed into 12 classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII-H and VIII-F class which were chosen by purposive random sampling. This research used pretest-posttest control design. Analysis data of this research used t-test. Based on the result of this research, it was concluded that cooperative learning of STAD wasn’t effective in terms of students mathematical concepts. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pem-belajaran kooperatif tipe STAD ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Bandar Lampung yang terdistribusi ke dalam 12 kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-H dan VIII-F yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD tidak efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
