- This research aimed to find out the influence of problem based learning on student’s mathematical representation skill. The population of this research was all students of grade 8thof SMP N 1 Seputih Mataram in academic year of 2016/2017 that was distributed into five classes. By purposive sampling technique, it was chosen students of VIII B and VIII C class as samples. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical representation skill. The result of data analysis showed that the problem based learning did not affects the student’s mathematical representation skill.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Seputih Mataram tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang terdistribusi dalam lima kelas. Dengan teknik purposive sampling, terpilih kelas VIII B dan VIII C sebagai sampel. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis masalah tidak berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, representasi matematis, eksperimen semu
