PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN DISCOVERY TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIS DAN SELF CONFIDENCE

  • This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the influence of discovery learning model towards students’ increasing of mathematical communication skill and self confidence. The design which was used was pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was all students of grade eight of SMP 21 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2015/2016 and the samples of this research were students of VIII A and VIII C class that were determined by purposive random sampling. The data of students’ mathematical communication skill were obtained by essay test and data of self confidence were obtained by self confidence scale. Based on the result and discussion, it was concluded that the implementation of discovery learning influence towards students’ increasing of mathematical communication skill but it did not influence towards increasing of self confidence.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self confidence siswa. Desain yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 21 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2015/2016 dan sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A dan VIII C yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Data kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa diperoleh melalui tes uraian dan data self confidence diperoleh melalui skala self confidence. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran discovery berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan self confidence siswa.Kata kunci: discovery, komunikasi matematis, self confidence
