- This study aims to describe the effectiveness of discovery learning model to improve the observation skill and mastery of concept chemical equilibrium. This research was conducted at one of senior high school in Bandar Lampung academic year of 2018/2019 using quasi experimental method with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sampling was done by using purposive sampling of 3 population classes and samples selected were class XI Science 2 as experimental class and XI Science 3 as control class. The effectiveness of discovery learning in this study was conducted by using n-gain which was significant between experimental class and control class. The size was measured by using the effect size. The result obtained by observation skill and mastery of concept are high, and the size of influence is great. Thus the discovery learning model used has effective and has a large effect to improve the observation skill and the mastery concept of chemical equilibrium.Keywords: chemical equilibrium, discovery learning, mastery of concept, and observation skill.Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas discovery learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan observasi dan penguasaan konsep kesetimbangan kimia. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di salah satu SMA di Bandar Lampung tahun ajaran 2018/2019 menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling dari 3 kelas populasi dan dipilih sampel yaitu kelas XI MIA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol. Efektivitas discovery learning dalam penelitian ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya perbedaan n-gain yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Ukuran pengaruh dihitung dengan menggunakan uji effect size. Hasil penelitian diperoleh model discovery learning yang digunakan efektif dan memiliki pengaruh yang besar untuk meningkatkan kemampuan observasi dan penguasaan konsep kesetimbangan kimia.Kata kunci: discovery learning, kemampuan observasi, kesetimbangan kimia, dan penguasaan konsep.
