Tesis ini membahas tentang perilaku pencarian informasi pejabat di Fakultas Tarbiyah Institut Agama Islam Negeri Ambon. Pertanyaan penelitian ini adalah apa kebutuhan informasi Dekan dan Pembantu Dekan Fakultas Tarbiyah IAIN Ambon dalam pelaksanaan tugas sehari-hari, bagaimana perilaku pencarian informasi mereka dan hambatan apa yang dihadapi dalam melakukan pencarian informasi. Model operasional penelitian ini adalah gabungan Model of Information Seeking of Professional yang dikembangkan Leckie, Pettigrew, dan
Sylvain dan A Model of the Gross-Information Seeking Strategies yang
dikenalkan oleh Wilson serta Behavioral Models of Seeking Strategies yang dikenalkan David Ellis dan telah direvisi oleh Wilson. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode kualitatif. Informan penelitian ini adalah Dekan dan Pembantu Dekan Fakultas Tarbiyah IAIN Ambon. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara mendalam dengan menggunakan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) subjek pendidikan merupakan subjek yang paling banyak diperlukan, disamping subjek lain seperti manajemen keuangan dan organisasi, 2) sumber internet merupakan sumber informasi yang paling banyak digunakan
kemudian diikuti oleh artikel jurnal, 3) terbitan yang digunakan adalah terbitan terbaru, 4) tahap yang diperkenalkan oleh Ellis merupakan tahap yang dilalui oleh Dekan dan Pembantu Dekan, 5) hambatan yang dihadapi adalah yang berasal dari individu, antar individu dan lingkungan.

This thesis discusses the information seeking behaviour of principles in the Faculty of Tarbiyah of the State Islamic Institute Ambon. Research question of this thesis are 1) what kinds of information they needs for their work 2) how are their information seeking behaviours and 3) what variables interfere their information seeking activities. Operational model of this research is the combination of Leckie?s model called Information Seeking of Professionals and Wilson?s model called A Model of the Gross-Information Seeking Behaviour and Ellis?s Behavioural Model of Seeking Strategies which is revised by Wilson. This research uses qualitative methods. Informants of this study is the dean and
assistant deans at faculty of Tarbiyah IAIN Ambon. The data was collected by means of deep interview.
