ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the role of parentification toward hardiness among college students of bidikmisi scholarship in Indonesia. Parentification was measured using Parentification Inventory (Hooper, 2009) and hardiness was measured using Dispositional Resilience Scale-15 (Bartone, 2007). Participants involved in this study were 482 students from State Universities in Indonesia, consisted of 351 women and 131 men with an age range of 18-24 years (M = 20,02, SD = 1,376). Data obtained from all participants were analyzed using regression analysis. The results indicated that in general, parentification has a significant and positive role towards hardiness (ð›1⁄2 = 0,211, p < 0,01). For the type of parentification, emotional parentification has a greater role towards hardiness (ð›1⁄2 = 0.393, p <0.01), compared to instrumental parentification (ð›1⁄2 = -0,161, p < 0,05).
