Perrin (1994) adalah para peneliti yang menjabarkan konsep penyimpangan sosial dan juga kejahatan pada aspek interaksi sosial serta konsepsi subjektivis dan objektivis. Konsep Ward et.al di aplikasikan untuk mengkaji kasus unjuk rasa kenaikan harga Bahan Bakar Minyak (BBM) dan kekerasan kolektif yang melibatkan sekelompok mahasiswa dengan pihak kepolisian dan berdampak korban luka serta kerusakan property pada tanggal 29 Maret 2012 di jalan Diponegoro, Salemba, Jakarta.
