- <b>ABSTRAK</b><br> Stereotip seringkali menjadi pemicu ketegangan antaretnis, khususnya di masyarakat yang majemuk seperti Bangsa Indonesia, karena masih banyak orang menilai stereotip hanya dipandang sebagai suatu yang langsung jadi (instant). Salah satu tempat yang mempunyai tingkat interaksi yang tinggi dan terjadinya pertukaran budaya yang berbeda diantara individu adalah sekolah. Oleh karenanya, menarik untuk melihat bagaimana proses pembentukan stereotip yang ada pada Etnis Komering sebagai etnis pribumi atas Etnis Jawa sebagai etnis pendatang, khususnya di SMA N 1 Martapura, Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian dalam Tesis ini bertujuan untuk membahas dan mendeskripsikan mengenai proses pembentukan stereotip Etnis Komering (Etnis Pribumi) atas Etnis Jawa (Etnis Pendatang). Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Kategorisasi Diri (Self-Categorization Theory) berserta konsep stereotip, identitas, dan budaya. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan model studi kasus (case study) sebagai strategy of inquiry, serta dengan menekankan wawancara mendalam sebagai teknik pengumpulan data penelitian. Secara umum, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada siswa-siswi Etnis Komering di SMA N 1 Martapura terjadi proses pembentukan stereotip Etnis Jawa. Secara khusus, proses pembentukan stereotip Etnis Jawa dalam diri Etnis Komering mempertimbangkan tiga tema besar yaitu Interaksi, Perbedaan, dan Kepribadian, sedangkan informasi yang bersifat ekternal dianggap kurang mendukung dalam pembentukan stereotip Etnis Jawa. <hr> <b> Abstract </b><br> Stereotypes are often the trigger inter-ethnic tensions, especially between native and migrant ethnic groups in a pluralistic society such as the Indonesian nation, because many people considered stereotype is only viewed as instantly. One of the places that have a high level of interaction and exchange of different cultures among individuals is a school. Therefore, interesting to see how the formation of ethnic stereotypes that exist in Komering as the native ethnic about Javanese as migrant ethnic, particularly in SMA Negeri 1 Martapura, South Sumatra. Research in this thesis aims to discuss and describe the process of Komering Ethnic stereotype formation on Javanese. Theory used in this study was Self- Categorization Theory along with the concept of stereotypes, identity, and culture. The method in this study used a qualitative approach with a case study model as a strategy of inquiry, and by emphasizing in-depth interviews as a research data collection technique. In general, this study shows that a forming process of Javanese stereotypes among Komering students in SMA Negeri 1 Martapura occurred. In particular, the formation of Javanese stereotypes on Komering students considers three major themes, interaction, distinction, and personality, while the external information that is considered to be less supportive in the establishment of Javanese stereotypes.
