- [<b>ABSTRAK</b><br> Tesis ini menganalisis kesepadanan dan pergeseran yang terjadi dalam penerjemahan semimodal berdasarkan segi makna dan gramatikanya. Dengan menggunakan metode komparatif, tesis ini akan membandingkan sistem modalitas bahasa Inggris dengan sistem modalitas bahasa Indonesia. Pada akhirnya. penelitian dalam tesis ini menemukan bahwa penerjemahan semimodal harus memperhatikan adanya beberapa cakupan makna yang dapat muncul pada satu pengungkap semimodal untuk mencapai kesepadanan meskipun pergeseran tidak dapat dihindarkan. <hr> <b>ABSTRACT</b><br> This thesis analyzes the equivalence and the shift which occur in translating semimodals. By using comparative methode, this thesis will compare English modality system and Indonesian modality system.
