- Skripsi ini membahas salah satu proses pembentukan kata dalam bahasa Arab yaitu abreviasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif yang berasal dari sumber primer yaitu Al-Quran dan Hadits Arba_in, dan sumber sekunder yaitu buku-buku pembelajaran bahasa Arab yang diterbitkan oleh Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Islam dan Arab (LIPIA). Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa bahasa Arab memiliki bentuk-bentuk abreviasi yang kompleks dan sebagiannya memiliki pola atau wazan tertentu. Selain itu, terdapat beberapa proses abreviasi yang dipengaruhi oleh unsur semantik dan pragmatik. <hr> <b>Abstract</b><br> This final paper explores about one of processes towards word formation in Arabic which is called abbreviation. This research applied qualitative method, which is designed by descriptions from some primary sources such as Koran (Al-Quran) and the Forty Hadits (Hadits Arba_in); and also from some secondary sources such as Arabic tutorial books published by Institute of Islamic and Arabic Knowledge (LIPIA). The results of this research conclude that Arabic has some complex abreviation forms, which half of it has its own paterns. Besides, the process of abbreviation in Arabic is influenced by semantic and pragmatic aspects.
