- <b>ABSTRAK</b><br> Tesis ini membahas ideologi tekstual dalam karya Screwtape Letters. Untuk melihat ideologi tersebut penelitian ini menitikberatkan pada analisa tekstual. Adapun aspek-aspek tekstual yang dibedah dalam analisis adalah implied author, unreliable narrator, dan nada. Untuk memahami ideologi tekstual, karya ini harus dibaca dengan pembacaan double negatif. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa unsur-unsur tekstual karya memiliki kepaduan dalam mendukung ideologi Kristen yang merupakan ideologi implied author. Kepaduan tersebut terlihat dalam hubungan unsur-unsur dalam mendukung ideologi Kristen. Teks tersebut mengkontraskan penutur yang merepresentasikan tatanan kapitalisme (anti- Kristen) dengan ideologi Kristen yang dibawanya. Di dalam mengkaji aspek tekstual ini juga ditemukan adanya ketidakstablian dalam teknik penyampaian yang ada, yakni melemahnya nada iblis dan memunculkan nada implied author lebih dekat. Hal tersebut dapat dipahami sebagai retakan dalam teknik penyajiannya. <hr> <b>Abstract</b><br> This thesis discussed the issue on textual ideology of Screwtape Letters. In so doing, it puts an emphasis on the intrinsic domain of the work. By focusing on the internal categories, sueh as implied author, unreliable narrator, and the tone, it seeks to account for the ideology implicitly issued on the work. The certain mode of reading is strongly needed to identify the ideology hidden. The technique is so-called double negative. Applying this mode of reading ushered in the conclusion that the ideology of the text is ideology of Christianity which is presented by its implied author. Those categories mentioned above are spotted to be co-working together in order to support the ideology. While supporting the ideology, the text is seen to produce a contradiction between the narrator and its implied author. Simply to say, it is a contrast between Christianity and anti- Christiariity. On the other hand, instead of representing its unity, the text also shows the friction within itself; the tones of the devil narrator is sometimes weakened and, unconsciously, reveals the presence of its implied author.
