- Abstract: This research is intended to answer the problem about whether or not the use of minimal pair sound dictation technique affects the students’ listening achievement.The method that used to collect the data was Pre-Experimental. The researcher took Eighth Grade A Students of SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Ambawang In Year 2013-2014 which consists of 38 students as sample. From the data, the researcher found out that the students’ mean score of pre-test was 49.47 while the students’ mean score of post-test is 81.05. From the t-test it was proved that there were significance difference between the score of pre-test and the post-test. In other words, it can be concluded that the use of minimal pair sound dictation technique affects the students’ listening achievement. Keywords: Teaching Listening, Minimal Pairs, Dictation Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknik dikte berbentuk minimal pairs mempengaruhi pencapaian siswa pada keterampilan menyimak. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah Pre-Experimental. Peneliti mengambil siswa kelas 8A di SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Ambawang tahun ajaran 2013-2014 yang berjumlah 38 siswa sebagai sampel. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, nilai rata-rata siswa pada pre-test adalah 49.47 sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa pada post-test adalah 81.05. Dengan menggunakan rumus t-test maka telah terbukti bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menyimak menunjukan perubahan yang signifikan. berdasarkan temuan dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan teknik dikte berbentuk minimal pairs mempengaruhi pencapaian siswa pada keterampilan menyimak secara signifikan.
