- The purpose of this study is to determine the internal and external factors that cause children to drop out of school in Mekar Sekuntum Village. This research method used is descriptive with a qualitative form. The data source used in this study was children who dropped out of school at the junior high school education level in Mekar Sekuntum Village. The data collection tool uses observation guidance techniques, interview guides and documentation. The results of this study show that the factors that cause children to drop out of school in Mekar Sekuntum Village, Tebas District, Sambas Regency are internal factors such as low interest in children for school, not understanding lessons and schools are considered unimportant, and external factors such as lack of economy, as well as lack of parental awareness about the importance of children's education and the living environment are factors that cause children to drop out of school in Mekar Sekuntum Village, Tebas District Sambas County.
