- AbstractThis study aims to determine the students' ability to solve story questions onthe SPLTV material studied based on the level of learning motivation in classXI SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak. The method used is a descriptive method with acase study research form. The subjects in this study were students of class XIMIPA 6 with a total of thirty-seven students to be given a learning motivationquestionnaire which was then categorized based on the level of high, mediumand low learning motivation. The results of categorizing the level of studentlearning motivation were 7 high category students, 24 medium categorystudents, and 6 low category students. Based on the results of thequestionnaire category, 6 students were selected with two students each fromeach level of learning motivation to be given a test of the ability to solve storyquestions. The results of the test of the ability to solve story questions showedthat the students' ability to solve story questions with a high level ofmotivation was not better than the students' ability to solve story questionswith a moderate level of motivation, this was caused by students'misconceptions, weak representation and weak student connections.Keywords: Ability to solve story problems, Motivation to learn.
