- Abstract This study aimed to obtain an objective description and information regarding the lack of learning motivation of eighth-grade students of MTs Nurul Islam Pontianak. The research applied a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The form of the research is survey studies. The techniques of data collection used in this research were observation, interview, and documentation. Based on the research findings, the factors that caused students to have a lack of learning motivation were: 1) the students were indolent, 2) lack of preparation for learning activities in the class, 3) and, are often punished by the teacher. The efforts made by counseling teachers in dealing with this problem are (1) giving sanctions or punishments to students, and (2) making lessons more enjoyable when doing teaching and learning activities.Keywords:Lack of Learning Motivation,Student
