- AbstractThis research was conducted using descriptive methods. The reasonresearchers used the descriptive method through the stages of data collection,data analysis, and data presentation was because the researcher wanted toprovide an objective picture of the terminology of community activities relatedto the Kapuas River in Pontianak Malay. The form of research used isqualitative research. This qualitative approach was taken because in thisstudy the objectives or research objects were limited so that the data takencould be extracted as much as possible and so that in this study it was notpossible to expand the research object. Based on the results of the study,researchers found a description of the terrain of terminology in activities inthe Kapuas River watershed Pontianak Malay community found four activitiesnamely cultural activities, fishing activities, daily activities and touristactivities with a total of 86 words. All terminology in activities in the KapuasRiver basin of the Pontianak Malay community has 86 lexical meanings and16 cultural meanings. The implementation of learning using culturaldescription text, which is a waste, makes it easier for students to understandthe text because the culture of waste is closely attached to the Pontianakcommunity living on the Kapuas River.Keywords: Field of Meaning, Malay Language, Semantics.
