  • AbstractThe aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of TPRS to teach students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts. This research is a pre-experimental design. The research technique of data collecting is measurement technique. The data of this study were obtained from the pretest and the posttest. The research tool of data collecting is an objective test in the form of multiple choices. There were 41 students participating in this research are Year-8F students of Junior High School 09 Pontianak in academic year 2015/2016. The findings of the research show that the students had the ability to involve their reading comprehension of narrative texts through using of TPRS. The t-value was higher than the t-table (>2.021). The effect size of the treatment was 1.60. It is categorized highly effective to use TPRS as a method to teach students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts since it was higher than 0.80 in the effect size criteria.
