  • AbstractThe title of this thesis is "Analysis of the Application of Basic Teaching Skills for Sociology Teachers in Class XI of IIS MA Al-Anwar Pontianak".This study aims to determine the Application of Basic Teaching Skills for Sociology Teachers in class XI IIS of Aliyah Al-Anwar Pontianak Madrasah ". The method used in this study is to use qualitative methods that are descriptive. The results of the study that the sociology teacher in applying basic teaching skills was classified as lacking,because there were several components that were not applied, even from the eight basic teaching skills only six skills were applied, namely opening and closing skills,classroom management skills, questioning skills, strengthening skills , skills to make variations,and skills to explain, while skills are not applied, namely skills to guide small group discussions,small group and individual teaching skills. reasons for sociology teachers do not apply skills to guide small group discussions, teaching skills to small groups and individuals because the lecture method is more effective and more freely explain the material to students, even though individual teaching skills are only done by individual assignments, namely by giving students the task to do at home.
