  • AbstractThis study aims to describe the influence of instrumental music use towards poetry reading skills of third grade students of public Elementary School 05 Pontianak Kota. The method used is an experimental method to study the form of quasy experiments with the type of experimental design of nonequivalent control group design. The research sample was 34 students. Based on the analysis of data obtained from the results of the final test average control class 79,03 and the average experimental class of 81,56. Hypothesis test results obtained t of 2.294 and t table, (α = 5%) of 1.676 which means the value of t count> t table, (2.294> 1.676), then Ha is accepted. Of the calculated effect size (ES), ES 0.56 is obtained with the medium criteria in the range (0.3 ˂ ES > 0.7). This means that instrumental music has a moderate impact on the poetry reading skills of third grade students of public Elementary School 05 Pontianak Kota.
