- AbstractThis research was motivated by the problem of the low ability of eighth grade students of Kanaan Christian Middle School in writing posters. The grades obtained by students are still relatively low at 60,29 and have not reached the KKM, which is 75. The problem formulation in this study is about planning, implementing, and learning outcomes of writing posters using the STAD learning model. The aim to be achieved in this study is to increase students’ ability to write posters using the STAD learning model. This type of research is classroom action research. This method used is descriptive with qualitative research forms. Subjects in this study were teacher and eighth grade students of Kanaan Kubu Raya Christian Middle School with a total of 17 students consisting of 4 boys and 13 girls. Data collection techniques used in this study are direct and indirect techniques. The results obtained in this study are that there has been an increase in the process and learning outcomes in writing posters. The average score of students before doing class action research is 60,29. Then in cycle I by using the STAD learning model students learning outcomes have increased with an average of 72,79. Furthermore, in cycle II students learning outcomes again increased with an average of 83,03. The conclusions in this study is that the STAD learning model is very well used in learning to write posters because it can help students to work together in group learning because group division is done heterogeneously. In addition, students also become more serious and active in learning. Keywords: writing ability, posters, STAD
