  • AbstractThe problem in this study is “whether by using the storytelling method can improve the speaking skills of grade 3 students of public elementary school 29 Sungai Ambawang”? The purpose of this research is to describe the improvement of students’ speaking skill using storytelling method in grade 3 state elementary school 29 Sungai Ambawang. The method used is descriptive method. The research used is classroom action research. The research activity was conducted in grade 3 of elementary school of 29 Sungai Ambawang with the research subjects of 3rd graders which amounted to 20 people. The results showed that students’ speaking skills in cycle 1 seen from 20 students still have 5 unfinished people 275 while the completed 1287,5 (15 people) with an average value of 78,12. In cycle 2, there was a visible increase of 20 students who completed 1637,5 (18 persons) while 125 unadjusted (2 persons) with an average score of 88,12. Then on cyclical 3 again increased visible from 20 students who completed with an average value of 96,25. It can be concluded that using the storytelling method can improve students’ speaking skills in grade 3 of public elementary school 29 Sungai Ambawang.
