- Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja guru. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Lokasi penelitian di SMK Negeri 4 Pontianak. Subyek penelitian adalah Kepala Sekolah, Wakil Kepala Sekolah, Kepala Kelompok Keahlian dan guru. Hasil penelitian, menunjukkan gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah SMK Negeri 4 Pontianak cenderung menggunakan gaya situasional. Strategi yang dilakukan kepala sekolah yakni: memberi kesempatan seluas-luasnya pada guru untuk mengembangkan kurikulum; membimbing, melatih dan mendampingi siswa. Motivasi kerja guru di SMK Negeri 4 Pontianak cukup tinggi, hal ini dibuktikan dengan guru berusaha sekuat tenaga untuk mendidik siswa, guru bekerja ekstra Faktor-faktor internal penghambat motivasi kerja guru adalah tidak adanya teknisi dalam memperbaiki alat yang rusak, motivasi belajar siswa masih kurang serta kurangnya promosi hasil unit produksi sedangkan faktor-faktor eksternal diantaranya kurangnya kepedulian dan pengawasan orangtua, dan pengaruh lingkungan. Kata Kunci : Gaya Kepemimpinan, Motivasi Kerja Guru Abstract: The aim of this research is to know how the style of Principal’s leadership can increase the Teachers’ work motivation. In this research, the writer uses the qualitative method with the type of research by using a study case. The location of this research is in SMK Negeri 4 Pontianak. Subjects of this research are Principal, Vice Principal, the Head of Skill Group and Teachers. This research results, appoint to The style of Principal’s leadership in SMK Negeri 4 Pontianak are incline using the situational style. Based on the situation, the condition and the maturity level of his employees. The Principal strategies to give widely opportunity for the Teacher to develop the curriculum; guiding, training and accompanying Students; Involves the teacher in a committee of school activity; Gives opportunities for teachers to do the scientific publication or innovation; The teachers’ work motivation in SMK Negeri 4 Pontianak are highly enough. These are proved by the teachers which are having hardly effort to educate their students, the teachers give extra learning. The Internal factors restrict the teachers’ work motivation are there is no technician to repair the broken tools, lack of Students’ of learning motivation, and also lack of the promotion of the production unit results, then the external factors are less of caring and Parents’ control and the influence of environment.
