  • Abstrak: Alasan peneliti meneliti kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi unsur instrinsik cerpen agar siswa juga memperoleh pengalaman batin dalam diri mereka sendiri. Tujuannya adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan mengidentifikasi unsur instrinsik cerpen oleh siswa kelas XI Semester II SMA Negeri 1 Semparuk tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Bentuk penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi alur cerpen berkategori cukup dengan nilai persentase 74.24%, kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi penokohan cerpen berkategori baik dengan nilai persentase 83.32%, kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi latar cerpen berkategori cukup dengan nilai persentase 74.02%, kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi amanat cerpen berkategori baik dengan nilai persentase 84.84%, kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi unsur instrinsik cerpen semua aspek berkategori cukup, dengan nilai persentase 77.41%. Kata Kunci: Mengidentifikasi, Unsur Instrinsik, Cerpen Abstract: The reason of why does the researcher interested in conducting a research on the students’ ability in identifying the instrinsic elements of the short story is because the students acquire their own spiritual experiences. The purpose of this research is to describe the ability of identifying the intrinsic elements of the short story by the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Semparuk in the academic year 2014/2015. This research used the descriptive method and in form of quntitative research. Based on the result the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Semparuk’s ability in identifying the plot of the short story is categorized as enough with the percentage of 74.24%, students’ ability in identifying the short story characterizations is categorized as good with the percentage of 83.32%, students’ ability in identifying the short story background is categorized as enough with the percentage of 74.02%, students’ ability in identifying the short story messages is categorized as good with the percentage of 84.84%, students’ ability in identifying the intrinsic elements of the short story for all aspects is categorized as enough with the percentage of 77.41%.
