- Two movies called Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963) by Alfred Hitchcock have similar theme about the relationship between male characters and their mothers. The difference is in the characterization, between a sane character and a character with mental disorder. The study on both movies uses qualitative method with psychoanalysis approach. The results of the analysis on these movies state that both male characters experience the Oedipus complex fixation. There are differences in the Ego and the Superego aspects on both male characters, which affect the ways they project their love desire towards their mothers.Film Psycho (1960) dan The Birds (1963) karya Alfred Hitchcock menceritakan tema serupa tentang hubungan para tokoh laki-laki dengan ibu mereka. Kedua film ini memiliki perbedaan karakterisasi tokoh, antara orang yang normal secara psikologis dan orang yang mengalami gangguan mental. Kedua film ini ditelaah menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan psikoanalisis. Hasil analisis terhadap dua film ini menyatakan bahwa kedua tokoh laki-laki mengalami fiksasi oedipus complex. Terdapat perbedaan Ego dan Superego, antara kedua tokoh laki-laki, yang berpengaruh pada cara memproyeksikan hasrat kecintaan terhadap ibu mereka.
