- Environmental law enforcement by regional governments in the context of regional autonomy is an important part of realizing quality environmental protection and management through the formation of regional legal policies. Regional legal policies regarding the protection and management of life-based on statutory regulations at the central level also influence the functioning of environmental law enforcement in the regions. This article aims to review the pattern of environmental law enforcement based on the Law on Environmental Protection and Management, the Regional Government Law, and the Job Creation Act, and discusses the relationship between the functioning of environmental law enforcement in the realm of regional autonomy. This article shows 2 (two) things, first, every statutory regime has its impact on the enforcement of environmental protection and management laws. After the birth of the Job Creation Law, it shows the weak function of environmental law enforcement. Second, the regional policies on environmental protection and management in the Sleman Regency study have had a positive impact on the protection and management of the environment in the regions and have shown success in increasing the environmental quality index through effective law enforcement. The meeting point found in this article is that the success of environmental law enforcement must be supported by environmentally sound laws and regulations, responsible institutions and organs, as well as culture and support from the community to play an active role in protecting and managing the environment. Keywords: law enforcement, local government, regional autonomy
