STUDI KUALITAS WELDING REPAIR DENGAN METODE PENGELASAN TIG DENGAN PERLAKUAN PWHT PADA CAST WHEEL ALUMINIUM

- This research aims to know i.e.(1) Determine the effect of the composition and microstructure of the weld area with a result of repair welding using TIG welding method with PWHT treatment on the aluminium cast wheel. (2)Determine the value of hardness and impact strength on the results of the repair welding using method of TIG welding with PWHT treatment on the aluminium cast wheel. This research applied descriptive quantitative method with the source of data that consists of the results of the composition test, micro structure, impact test and test of Brinnel aluminium cast wheel.The data analysis technique used in this research was descriptive technique. This study observed the results of experiment directly then analyzed it and then the experimental results concluded. Result of this research shows that chemical composition of aluminium cast wheel changed after TIG welding process with PWHT treatment done. Al content of the original elements have increased 94.93% to 97.60% after the TIG welding process with PWHT treatment done as well as the elements of Si, namely changes in raw materials has decreased by 4.61% to 1.21%. The highest hardness value in raw material that are 42.69 BHN while in the weld part decreased to 28.28 BHN, the lowest hardness value in base material are 21,39 BHN. The highest value of impact strength are 0,14 joule/mm2on the weld part while on the raw material, the lowest value are 0.09 joule/mm2. The conclusion that was obtained from this study was PWHT process decreased hardness value. The hardness value of TIG specimen was lower than raw material specimens hardness number.
