- This present research is aimed at (1) finding out the construction background of Puputan Klungkung Monument, and (2) finding out potency of Puputan Klungkung Monument as learning media for teaching local history. Data was gathered through qualitative method done in several steps: (1) the technique of determining the location of the study, (2) the technique of determining informants, (3) techniques of data collection (observation, interviews, document review), (4) techniques of data authentication (data triangulation method), (5) techniques of data analysis, and (6) writing method. This present research found that (1) there are two factors of construction of Puputan Klungkung Monument which are historical factor and tourism factor, (2) potency of Puputan Klungkung Monument as learning media for teaching local history are structure of the monument, statue of Ida Dewa Agung Jambe the Klungkung King and his people died in puputan Klungkung, and diorama inside of the Puputan Klungkung Monument.
