Teoria homilii w Stanach Zjednoczonych po II Soborze Watykańskim, Kraków 2008. Summary The homily is a kind of preaching of the word of God in the liturgical assembly. It serves as a regular means of reaching people with the good tidings of Jesus Christ. This book aims to present the theory of the homily in the United States of America after Second Vatican Council. The teaching on the homily in the US is, from one side, the continuation of the magisterial teaching of the Holy See on the subject; on the other side it is an innovative reception of the teaching of the Holy See. In order to avoid unnecessary repetitions in this book the emphasis is on the innovations in the teaching on the homily in the US in comparison to the teaching of the Holy See. Four of them are described and analyzed in this dissertation, i.e. “Pastoral Homiletic Plan”; redefinition of the homily; the homily as a story; and inclusive language of the homily. Contemporary people are the careful observers of the world. With the help of modern technology people can have an insight into the far away galaxies and analyze the microscopic genetic material. However they still need help in order that they might discover God, who is present in the world, although in a hidden way. It is the liturgy, which is the best school, where one may learn to search for the signs of God among human beings. During the liturgy the homilist announces that Christ is alive and present in the liturgical assembly and in the world. The homily is a chance for people of God in order that they might continuously listen to the word of God and thus quench the thirst for spiritual nourishment.
