- Annotation. The article examines the opportunities and obstacles to sustainable development of agribusiness in Ukraine. It is emphasized that the development of strategies for the development of agribusiness at the German stage does not depend on economic factors, but it describes the social requirements - the set of interests of stakeholders with whom companies interact. This requires accelerated publication of domestic enterprises to the adopted European standards, their entry into European markets and the general social development of Ukraine. The shortcomings of the modern structure of the agro-industrial complex are described. The importance of effective state regulation of agribusiness on the basis of sustainable development and the creation of mechanisms of social responsibility was noted. The formation of market relations in Ukraine on the basis of private property has led enterprises to use a mechanism for regulating flows, based on the principles of self-regulation. Resources are directed to the production, where you can get more profit. In contrast to the conditions of the planned management system, when the centralized bodies used regulatory factors of production, enterprises in their practice have acquired the status of free choice of the desired activity. The purposefulness of labor and labor was focused on business results, which became one of the principles of forming the program of their activities. Given the currently dominant concept of sustainable development in the process of developing a strategy for the development of agro-industrial enterprises, regardless of their organizational and legal form, it is advisable to provide for the creation of mechanisms of social responsibility. For farms, compliance with social requirements will be possible only through the processes of cooperation and integration into regional agro-industrial clusters. Instead, for agricultural holdings, compliance with social requirements in further development should be another step towards achieving European standards of social responsibility and expanding markets. Keywords: agribusiness, agriculture, sustainable development, government regulation, social responsibility.
