- Seismic analysis is the systematic calculation of the response of a structure subjected due to earthquakes. It comes under the process of structural design and earthquake engineering. On comparison the seismic response of sloping ground will vary with plain ground. As the vibrations due to earthquake are very irregular and unsymmetrical in horizontal and vertical direction. Because of variation in mass and stiffness distibution on different vertical axis the buildings in the hilly areas become highly irregular and asymmetric on each floor. These structures constructed in seismically prone area will get subjected to high shear and torsional effects as compared to conventional building. There are possibilities of short and long column in the same building which is resting on slope ground. During seismic vibrations, all columns move horizontally along with the floor which effects and damages the building. On sloping ground because of asymmetric lateral earth pressure involved in extension of contact zone in between two bodies of different stiffness and responses causes inconvenient in loading.
