- The paper describes stakeholder attitudes towards ecosystem-based forest strategies and management practices in marginalized mountain areas of the Ukrainian Carpathians, focusing on multi-functional changes in woodlands. Q-methodology was used to identify attitudes and spectrum of sustainability to which they relate. Findings improve understanding of stakeholder priorities and of commonalities and differences in existing attitudes/perceptions, providing indications of how the diversity of attitudes towards forestry changes could influence sustainable forestry decisions. Overall, it was found that people put strong emphasis on multi-functional forestry and stakeholder engagement in decision making processes.
