- Observations on the archaeological and historical-political context of the urban development of the centers of Roman Sicily during the first phase of the Province ยท After the establishment of the Roman province, many cities in Sicily showed a radical urban reorganization. Such interventions would suggest real re-foundations, carried out according to an orthogonal urban planning organization. The contemporary examples of the Gallic and Iberian provinces show that in many cases these are foundations promoted by magistrates cum imperio. These examples could therefore clarify the historical-political context, in the framework of which the urban planning of many cities of Roman Sicily developed during the first phase of the province.
