- Laser light scattering of speech droplets. The video recorded at 24 frames per second with an iPhone11 Pro camera. The speaker’s mouth is positioned behind two parallel sheets of planar green laser light, with optical power of ca 2 W per sheet. Speech droplets crossing the two planes scatter light, as seen in the image. A comparison of recordings with and without a double layer of paper towel shows the effectiveness of a simple barrier in blocking emission.
