- The study examined the farm level effect of adoption of budded citrus technology in Benue State. Multistage sampling technique was used. Two out of the three Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) zones in the state were selected. Thirty-two citrus farmers under the state ADP were purposively selected. Data was collected with structured interview schedule. Frequency counts, percentages, ranking, Chi square and PPMC were used for data analysis. Most (65.6%) of the farmers had adopted budded citrus technology between 4 and 20years while 34.4% had adopted the technology more than 20years. They have more than 100.0% returns on investment indicating its profitability in the state. Adoption of budded citrus technology had very high effect on augmentation of income and improved yield among 72.7% and 42.4% of the respondents respectively. Also, 42.4% experienced high poverty reduction as a result of adoption of the technology. Diseases and pests infestation ranked first and second while fire outbreak ranked last as risk factors associated with adoption of the technology. Significant (p< 0.05) relationship existed between farm level effect of adoption and sex (x2 = 4.09) and marital status (x2 = 10.28) of the respondents. Concerted effort should be made to improve on adoption of the budded citrus technology by combating the prevailing risk factors with a view to promoting economic gains of citrus farmers in the state.
