- This work deals with the production of nanowires decorated with nanoparticles (hybrid nanostructures) by a single-step laser ablation method performed at room temperature. The method yields a wide variety of boron-rich decorated nanowires decorated with various types of metallic nanoparticles inclufding Fe, Au, Ag, Co nanoparticles, etc. The synthesis process consists on a filamentary jet ejection process driven by pressure gradients generated by the ablation plume on the rims of the irradiation crater. The nanoparticles are nucleated within the plume and are subsequently deposited on the filaments thus producing hybrid decorated nanowires.
