  • An inextricable link between the techno-innovative socioeconomic -agro-industrial objective of rapid economic development and the policies of globalization, liberalization and privatisation those have been on the national economic agenda since the inception of the 1991 economic policy reforms, cannot yield unique results as to the expectations of a wide section of intelligentsia including policy-makers, economists and political leaders. In this context, the study seeks to explore the positive instrumental role of export-orientation of economic development of India. Thus, it is attempted to study by making the case for accelerating the pace of active export-orientation policies for achieving rapid and inclusive economic growth in India. For this purpose, it will try to draw on international experience regarding export performance and will examine empirical evidence to deduce reasonably clear propositions about exports and their instrumental role in the economic growth process. It is thus argued that an expansion of exports, even at the cost of other sectors will have a net positive effect on the rest of the economy. It may also ease the foreign exchange constraint. There could also be positive spillover effects on the rest of the economy. Thus, if we give a gaze on the table with data provided among the previous pages. We will find that the countries which have adopted export led growth ideology at the right hour are for apart us in terms of growth and economic development.
