- Acanthodian assemblages from four exposures of the Burtnieki Regional Stage (Karksi (Estonia), Veczemju (Latvia), Kemka and Novinka (Russia)) are described and stratigraphic distribution of the acanthodian taxa in the Burtnieki Regional Stage is discussed. It is proposed that the zone Diplacanthus gravis can be split into two (one corresponding to the Aruküla Regional Stage and the other - to Burtnieki Regional Stage) based on the new data on acanthodian diversity of this interval.
