  • Green areas have been historically managed in an inappropriate manner towards their purposes of urban as well as environmental character, undermining the biota. These areas are typically governed by development plans which are proposed by the municipality. However, proposals are also taken by the community to competent bodies. Then, it was tried to fit the green area of the University City Lot - LCU in Passo Fundo to its natural purpose: preservation area for parks, then the community association was included in the context together with professors of the engineering course of Passo Fundo University. Therefore, the objective of this work was to develop the accomplishment of improvements of the LCU green area, according to the laws that govern the preservation of the environment and community as needed.
