  • This study aims to improve the activity and learning outcomes of the basic techniques of topping volleyball through the application of the GI (Group Investigation) type learning learning model in class VII.1 of Junior Hight School Negeri 3 Mengwi. The subjects of this study were VII.1 grade students of Junior Hight School Negeri 3 Mengwi, totaling 35 people, namely 15 men and 20 women. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results of the study it was found that the average learning activities of the basic technique of topping volleyball in a classical manner at the initial observation 6.28 (quite active), increased in the first cycle to 7.56 (active), and increased in the second cycle to 9.02 (very active). While the classical learning outcomes in the initial observation 59.98 (not good), increased in the first cycle to 78.87 (good), and increased in the second cycle to 97.14 (very good). Based on the results of the data analysis and discussion, it was concluded that the activity and learning outcomes of the basic technique of topping volleyball increased through the application of the GI type cooperative learning model in class VII.1 of Junior Hight School Negeri 3 Mengwi.
