  • The aim of H2020 ICARUS (Integrated Climate forcing and Air Pollution Reduction in Urban Systems) project is to develop tools for European cities to reduce the levels of atmospheric pollutants so and improvement on both health and population well been should be expected. These tools will require the participation of both policy makers and citizens which will have to improve more friendly and sustainable habits and behavior. So, to develop those tools first both source apportionment studies using existing network data and the health impacts shall de estimated. Because of the lack of some important pollutant data as: PAH, heavy metals, ions and OC+EC which levels are not currently available, they must be measured. Therefore, the ICARUS community measured the OC and EC levels, in PM2,5 particles, in 5 European cities (Athens, Brno, Ljubljana, Madrid and Thessaloniki). The measurements were performed in 3 typical air quality stations (traffic, urban background and city background) during winter and summer 2017.
