KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE WITH INTEREST IN TREATING ELDERLY PATIENTS DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC

  • Background: Dental health problems in the elderly in Indonesia are higher than one of the WHO targets. This is influenced by many factors, namely health care factors, environment, knowledge, attitudes and behavior in maintaining dental and oral health. During the Covid-19 pandemic, dental health services were restricted because they generated aerosols, as a result, patient interest in performing dental and oral care at dental health service facilities decreased. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with interest in treating elderly patients at the Pertamedika Dental Clinic IHC Rawamangun Jakarta during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Research method: This research is an analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted on all elderly patients who went to Pertamedika Dental Clinic IHC Rawamangun. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling with a total sample of 43 people. The independent variables are knowledge and attitudes, while the dependent variable is interest in treatment in elderly patients. Data collection instrument using a questionnaire and data analysis using Chi-Square and Spearman test. Result: there is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards treatment interest in elderly patients at the Pertamedika Dental Clinic IHC Rawamangun Jakarta during the Covid-19 Pandemic with p<0.05. Conclusion: there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude with interest in treating elderly patients at the Pertamedika Dental Clinic IHC Rawamangun Jakarta during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
