The aims of this study are to describe the types of illocutionary acts used in the screenplay of The Dark Knight and explain the meaning of the illocutionary acts used by the characters.The data were analyzed by using qualitative method. The data were collected from the screenplay of The Dark Knight. The selection was conducted by choosing some of the dialogues that have conversations that contain illocutionary acts. The results of this study are that illocutionary acts used in the dialogue of The Dark Knight screenplay are many used by the characters. They use the speech acts of directive, commissive, representative, expressive, and declarative.
