- Shallots are one of the results of the agricultural sector which is included in the tubers group. Diseases of shallots are one of the obstacles for farmers in the management of shallots. These diseases can damage crops which if left unchecked can affect crop yields and can cause losses to farmers. The research entitled "Application of Forward Chaining and Certainty Factor Methods in Expert Systems for Disease Diagnosis in Shallots", has a problem formulation of how to apply the Forward Chaining and Certainty Factor methods to diagnose shallot plant diseases using an expert system and how to design a system to diagnose diseases in shallots. Shallot. The purpose of this study was to apply the Forward Chaining and Certainty Factor methods to an expert system designed to diagnose diseases in shallots. The method used in this study is Forward Chaining which is one of the inference methods used as a disease tracking technique based on the existing symptoms and the Certainty Factor method which is used to calculate the percentage certainty of the disease based on the selected symptoms. Based on the tests carried out, it was found that the system can work as expected, where from the admin side the system can display menus and can display error messages if the admin makes inappropriate inputs, while from the user side, the system can diagnose diseases based on selected symptoms and can calculate the level of certainty of the disease that arises from the existing symptoms.
